So Sharon and Conner made it here safe and sound yesterday. Conner did well on the flights. They had a 35 minute layover in Vegas. They landed in Burbank at about 3:15pm. So we went to Target, to Bob's Big Boy for dinner and visited with John D. and his family for a little while Then we came back to the apartment, watched Boz and then went to sleep at 8:00pm. Ok. They went to sleep, I was up till midnight. Then I was up at 5:00am when Conner got up.
So today was a good day. We went to breakfast at Theresa's Family Diner. It was very good. There was an 85 year old lady who decided to not check to see if I was within earshot before insuting me and remarking about how we raise our son. It was a nice moment when I hear her whisper to here hearing impared friend that I was eating a pancake and that's why I'm fat and that we feeding Conner a pancake will make him fat too. I don't mind though. She was just sticking up for Conner because they wear the same brand diaper. Other than that a wonderful morning. It's funny. I have noticed I get a lot more judgemental looks out here than I did back home. Maybe it's because my size man is seen about as much as Paris Hilton's modesty. So I get the starring looks. I don't really care about that as much as some stranger trying to whisper so I won't hear five feet away, saying that we are raising our son wrong. Call me fat, call me what you want. But keep your nose out of where it might get bit off. It was funny though because I think she pooped her Pampers when she realized I heard her.
But I'm not angry.:) Then the rest of the day was really good. We came back...we all napped. Then we went for a drive to downtown Burbank. It really is a quaint downtown. It's nice, clean and modern. And it sits at the base of a mountain. So we puttered around there and then went to Studio City to get my headshots done. Yes they were supposed to be done yesterday but it was rainy and EVERYTHING stops when it rains here. John D. told me not to come by because it was raining. WHAT?! They also drive when it's sprinkling like we drive when it snows a foot. It rained all day Tuesday and Wednesday until about 5:00. It JUST RAINED. No lightning, no thunder, no downpours even...just rain. I heard on the news...no lie...that it was the strongest storm to come through Southern California in four decades. I went to my acting class and what usually takes fifteen minutes in regular traffic took me over fourty five minutes! Crazy.
So we went to this house in Studio City. It was a gorgeous spanish style house built in the 1920's and concidered a landmark. It was absolutely beautiful. Nancy Larson, the photographer, was finishing up headshots for it's resident and he graciously allowed me to have my headshots done there too!! His names is Peter Oronati and he and his wife were so very nice. She even baked us some cookies and brownies. So when I met Peter I knew I recognized him from TV and movies. He was in Goodfellas, CSI NY, Las Vegas, and many other television shows. Anyway, Sharon and Conner ran around their back yard with they two dogs for the hour and a half that it took to find my good side.:) When it was over I talke to Peter for a few minutes and he asked me what my story was. I told him what I was doing and he said that I needed to get him a photo and resume and he would give it to a commercial agent. He started out doing commercials for the first couple yerars and made a decent living he said. Then he broke into movies and TV. I added his picture to the left.
Then we came home, tried to put Conner down for a nap but it didn't happen. So we went out to dinner at Taste Of Chicago Pizza. It was really good. But, alas, poor Conner couldn't take the pressure of eating Chicago Pizza in Los Angeles and collapsed during the meal. A picture of that is also to the left. So we scooped him up, stopped at the grocery store and came home.
Tomorrow we go to the beach after our morning nap, then go get my CD of headshots (which I will post some on here tomorrow), then we might go to Beverly Hills or Hollywood and do some sight seeing. Should be a fun...tiring day.:)
I hope you all have a great day!
