Dateline: Day Five

Today started very uneventful.  We woke up, had some Frosted Flakes, and went out to find some housing for me.  Remember I am only at these apartments until Friday.  So we left and started down a short list of apartment complexes I found online.  I was starting to get nervouse about this whole living situation.

The first was on Riverside and was amazing.  I actually thought the price they quoted me online was for weekly when I saw it.  But it was monthly.  Unfortunately it was very much out of my price range.  So we moved on to antoher area.  When we got to it we could not find the front office.  Todd got out and went to find it while I made other phone calls to different apartment complexes.  I spoke to a very nice woman at one particular place who said they had rooms in my pricerange ready to move into within the next couple of days.  Todd came back and we were off.

When we got there I realized that the building was across the street from Warner Brothers.  You know before a Warner Brothers' movie they show an older picture of the back lot and it gets wavy and turns into their logo...I will be next to that; Disney is also about two or three blocks away.  So we go in and speak to this nice lady.  She gves me a good quote and a tour.  I love the room and it is still a bit out of my range but the amenities and, I will find out later, the location are great.

So we then left and went to Sherman Oaks to look for an apartment.  Not much luck.  We did find one that was a bit cheaper but the area was not what the other place was and it was not nearly as nice.  So after praying over it at lunch and just meditating on it I told Todd I felt like i needed to go back to the other place.

We get back and sit down and start filling out the application.  Our nice helper comes to us a little solemnly and tells me that the price she quoted was for a 7 month or longer lease and with a shorter lease she was going to have to charge me extra a month.  A good chunk of change extra.  I kept filling out the application and looked at Todd.  I wasn't sure what to do.  She then came back and had a way that I could skip the extra charge and still only stay three months.

Well as we talked she told Todd and I that she was also an actress and a producer.  She is from Gary Indiana and went to IU.  She was so excited to meet some fellow Hoosiers.  She then told me that the executives from Warner Brothers and Disney frequent the Starbucks across the street from the building I will be in.  She said if I just walk around and be sociable I can meet some pretty "interesting people".  She would not elaborate on what that meant but just said that the area is saturated with talent seeking people.  She also hooked me up with a lot of information and websites that I did not know about before.  She has agreed to introduce me to her Agent which is HUGE!!!  Then tomorrow night Todd and I are invited to a movie wrap party that her friend is having.

After this I go to John Kirby's Acting Studio and audition to get into his class.  I was accepted and he made a comment that I should send a reel of my material to "My Name Is Earl".  He didn't realize it was cancelled.  But he also said that given my unique look and what he saw during my monologue he said that I should get work fairly quickly.  We'll have to see about that Iguess.  But still it was a good day.

We then went to eat at a nice restaraunt using gift certficates that we were given by my new apartment complex.  Then it was off to see "The Informant".  Now it's late and I am exhausted.  I have to take care of somethings for the aparment tomorrow and then we plan on sight seeing a bit.

God is good.  He really took care of me today.  Nothing may come out of this but I have definately put myself in the best possition possible or something to happen.  Like Todd said, he thought I'd be here a couple months before making these kind of contacts.

That's about it for now.  I hope you all have a great day.

Charles
